After my hair post I thought I would include a skin/ makeup post. Changing my hair a lot was very similar to changing skin routines and makeup looks. I started wearing makeup at the age 14. I now think this is far too young and I do regret it. I have learnt a lot since then and I do have a lot I would say to my younger self.
Don't wear makeup if you don't need it! At 14 I had lovely smooth skin , but with that pressure of friends and boys. I was worried that I wouldn't fit in. Nowadays I would tell myself why care about what others say.
Take your makeup off every night! (including eyeliner) I take deep care on cleaning my face now, I use Liz Earle hot polish cleanser to make sure everything is gone.
Find your skin type Not long ago I found out I had oily skin. This was a shock to me because I had used so many dry products. When i found out , I stopped using any moisturizer, that's when a dermatologist told me to use a non oily moisturizer. I didn't know these were on the market.
Find your skin Color Oh isn't orange around your neck so attractive.....urgh. I have always been the palest color in any foundation but I bought darker color to make myself look healthy (as i did look ill) I learnt using a foundation to match your skin tone with a dark blush will make you look healthy and look like you haven't got any makeup on.
Clean your makeup brushes I don't always use my makeup brushes but when I do , I make sure they are clean and fluffy as old makeup brushes carry the most germs.
Exfoliate I do this once a week to get rid of the dead skin on my face.
Face masks I use for "oily skin only" and "spot prone". My favorites are from Lush and Origins. Leave them on as long as you can and wash off with warm water. Towel dry with a clean towel.
My skin is still not perfect and I don't think it ever will be. I have a lot of spots underneath my skin which can be covered easy with makeup but quite annoying if I want to go on a no makeup day. I'm still learning so if you have any tips, feel free to leave them in a comment below.
